To activate your PostScan Mail address, you must complete and notarize USPS Form 1583. Here’s a full guide on how to do that step-by-step.

🧭 Step 1: Fill Out the USPS Form 1583

Use our built-in USPS Form 1583 Wizard to complete the form:

  • Go to Settings > Account Settings > USPS Form 1583 in your PostScan Mail account
  • Follow the step-by-step prompts to fill out the form
  • Download the completed form for a local notary, or submit directly to our online notary provider

✍️ Step 2: Notarize Your Form

Notarization is required by USPS regulations. The notary must:

  • Witness your signature
  • Complete the All-Purpose Acknowledgement

Online Notarization (Recommended)

  • Use our online notary partner via webcam for a quick and convenient experience
  • If completed through our online wizard, the notarized form is automatically submitted to PostScan Mail

Local Notary Option

  • Use the wizard to generate a printable form

  • Visit a local notary public to have the form notarized

    Return to your account to upload:

    • Completed and signed Form 1583
    • Color scans of both sides of your Photo ID and Address ID

📨 Step 3: Send USPS Form 1583 to PostScan Mail

Choose one of the following methods:

1. In Person

  • Visit your subscribed location with your notarized form and ID
  • Some locations may notarize your form on-site (fees may apply)

2. Online Notary

  • Complete the form using the wizard
  • Submit it to our notary provider and complete notarization via webcam

3. Local Notary Upload

  • After notarizing, upload all required documents directly in your Account Settings > USPS Form 1583 page

🔄 Optional: Change of Address (U.S. Only)

To start receiving mail at your PostScan Mail address, either:

  • Inform your senders directly, OR

    File a USPS Change-of-Address request:

    • Visit the Official USPS Change-of-Address Website

Note: USPS Change-of-Address forwarding is only available within the U.S. and lasts up to 12 months.

🎉 You’re Done!

Once you’ve:

  • Completed and notarized your USPS Form 1583
  • Notified senders or submitted a USPS Change-of-Address
